There's nothing like a good fortune cookie to lift your spirits, make you smile - or role your eyes. Well, this series is not about fortunes or your lottery numbers. It's simply words of wisdom (from a bears perspective) along with more than a few eye rollers. Enjoy! š»

Welcome to ExpeditionBear! We're not travel or adventure experts, so if you pick up on any words of wisdom or learn something new... it was completely unintentional. š»

"What's the speed of dark?"
I need to take my own advice. I don't want anyone to think that every free moment of my life is wrapped around some new expedition or adventure. It's not. I guess the purpose of a blog is to (sometime) inform or educate. Again, if you're looking for purpose, wisdom or overall guidance through life, there's a little 'X" in the upper right hand corner. If, however, you're simply looking to read a quick article to fill a minute in your life, read on...
So what is the "unplanned expedition" exactly? Well, it's the time you take for yourself. It can be mindless time in front of the TV. It can also be a quick drive to the beach, or to the lake, or even to the small creek near your house. I took an unplanned expedition to the pharmacy this week to pick up prescriptions. I'm not kidding. It got me out of the house. I took the long way to get there and took an even longer route home. It's what you do in-between that can make all the difference. I turned up my music loud, made my steering wheel cringe with a little singing and probably gave a few of my fellow travelers a laugh with my car dancing antics.
Just go. That's my advice. If your kids are driving you crazy, tell them all to put on their shoes and take them for a drive. It doesn't always have to be a shopping and ice cream expense. I wouldn't even tell the little buggers where you're headed. It's an expedition. It's unplanned. If it's not snowing outside... roll down the windows, turn up a song they'll all sing to and drown out the bickering - if you must.
I could go on and on about things you can do, places you can go, as well as tips and tricks, but the purpose of this article is to get you thinking and doing - not just planning. So unless you're reading this on your phone with a spectacular view, in a spectacular place... hit the "X" and take the unplanned expedition. š»
